“The wound is where the light enters.” - Rumi
The human experience is difficult. Even amidst moments of joy, celebration, and connection with others, feelings of pain or detachment can cloud the vision we have of ourselves and the future. The world is a busy and distracting place and there aren’t many spaces—designed specifically to meet our unique needs—in which we can explore ourselves and receive support.
I view therapy as an invitation to heal and have been inspired by my own experiences of finding therapeutic relief through struggle in order to help others. During my encounters with stress and grief—and while watching loved ones suffer their own difficult losses—I cultivated a passion for guiding individuals through the process of self-exploration. I believe that therapy provides an opportunity to discover and reveal the inner gifts we all possess.
Whether you are responding to tension and life stressors or simply longing for more peace, fulfillment, and meaning from your unique human experience, I am prepared to help you find harmony. I specialize in helping my clients respond to distress, which often takes the form of unresolved trauma, anxiety, and grief. And I offer a nonjudgmental presence in support of uncovering what is at the root of your pain and suffering.
Relief comes in many forms. Sometimes, it comes with making connections to someone else who understands your pain and struggle. Other times, it’s being inspired to make lifestyle changes that promote healthier behaviors and a happier existence. In tailoring my approach to meet the needs of each client, I work to establish a personal and trusted connection where integrative, creative, and body-based methods can work in tandem to increase your mental, emotional, and physical wellness.
As a New York native and having spent the last two decades living on the beautiful North Shore of Oahu, I have made connections with a wide range of people. My grounded, supportive nature allows me to find common interests with others, and as a lifelong learner, I value the opportunity to discover and gain new perspectives. By integrating body-based approaches, active and empathetic listening, and meditation with an appreciation for nature, I am here to support you in finding a re-energized view of yourself and the world around you.
Providing An Eclectic, Far-Reaching Approach Towards Healing
I provide therapy to individuals and couples across the Hawaiian Islands and the virtual experience has provided opportunities for me to facilitate stress management and support groups across the Country. I am currently a Senior Trainer for Dr. Dean Ornish's Lifestyle Medicine Program, a Group Facilitator and Stress Management Specialist as a part of Marin Cardiology Ornish Program in Larkspur, California, and a new member of Dr. Ornish's Preventive Medicine Research Institute (PMRI). In conducting these groups as a part of the Lifestyle Medicine trial for Alzheimer's Disease, I am inspired by the healing power of community and hopeful in the study’s hypothesis that Lifestyle Medicine can reverse or stall the progression of this disease.
In 2004, I became a graduate of the two-year Mindfulness certification program for healthcare professionals through the Metta Institute. I am committed to learning creative approaches from industry leaders and experts. And I recently enrolled in a seven-month training with the Trauma Research Foundation under the direction of Dr. Bessel Van der Kolk and other leading trauma experts. Beyond that, I am inspired by the work, perspective, and inclusive nature of Ester Perel’s practice and participated in her online community of therapists for three years.
In addition to years of studying and teaching yoga, my depth of learning comes from the intersection of my formal educational training and human experience. I have learned so much from those whom I have supported over the years, including as a hospice social worker and a birth doula.
“Love and death are the great gifts that are given to us; mostly, they are passed on unopened.” – Rainer Maria Rilke
